Media & Recording Policies for Events
Media Policies
We allow media to observe our workshops as long as they agree on the following ground-rules. We also advise letting participants know in advance that media may be present so nobody is surprised.
No participants will have their names or likeness published without permission
Nobody will be quoted by name without permission
No participants are required or expected to talk to press or do interviews before or after the event
Any media in attendance will function like regular observers during the event: they will be there to watch and listen, but they will not speak or participate directly
Workshop Recording Policies
If workshops are to be recorded beyond the purpose of quality improvement of workshop design and delivery, there needs to be clear communication to all workshop participants ahead of the workshop, during the registration process, as to the use of the recording.
Suggested wording can be: "This workshop will be recorded for the purpose of ...., and the following use will be made of it: ...."
If someone is uncomfortable with a workshop being recorded, once they get to the workshop, you should either (a) not record the workshop, or (b) let participants know they can drop out and attend a future workshop.
